Old Bridge Restoration
Background
Streator Baptist Camp has been a wonderful resource for Illinois Baptist Churches through summer camps, group retreats, and pastor prayer retreats. The camp has seen many come to Christ and even more grow in their relationship with Him. One of the important things at Streator is limiting possible distractions and creating a pleasant environment allows for people to reconnect with Jesus and each other. The camp trails are very popular among camp visitors. Access to the Oak trail and the prayer trail is made possible by a bride that takes you over the creek to the trails. This project is to work on that bridge.
Project
This project will consist of scrapping the old paint off the bridge, and then staining and sealing it so that it will last for many more years.
Logistics
This project is great for a small group of 5-10 volunteers and can be a mix of youth and adults. This project can be completed in 1-2 days. All supplies needed for this project will be provided by the camp, but volunteers will need to make sure they are dressed to get messy as the stain is difficult to get off cloths.
Lodging is available at the camp for free. Groups that choose to stay overnight will be offered a campfire and hayrides. The camp will provide snacks and drinks during the project, but all meals will be the responsibility of the group. The camp can provide meals for $6.50 per person (per meal) a kitchen is available for groups who would like to cook their own meals (the camp manager can offer more details).
