Streator Tree Cleanup Project
Background
Streator Baptist Camp has been a wonderful resource for Illinois Baptist Churches through summer camps, group retreats, and pastor prayer retreats. The camp has seen many come to Christ and even more grow in their relationship with Him. One of the important things at Streator is limiting possible distractions and creating a pleasant environment that allows for people to reconnect with Jesus and each other. This project consists of cleaning up the woods along the trails. Because of past storms and wind there are many downed trees that hurt the over all beauty of the trails.
Project
This project will consist of removing downed trees in eyesight of the trails specifically around the river loop. The project will consist of cutting the trees up, splitting the wood, and stacking it to be used in the upcoming years.
Logistics
This is a rather large project and is not expected to be done by one group. A group of any size and age can work on this project. We would ask that if youth are involved that adults are the ones using the chainsaws. The groups that sign up for this project will need to bring chainsaws, work gloves, and proper safety equipment. The camp has a tractor and atv that can be used for hauling the wood away to be stacked.
Lodging is available at the camp for free. Groups that choose to stay overnight will be offered a campfire and hayrides. The camp will provide snacks and drinks during the project, but all meals will be the responsibility of the group. The camp can provide meals for $6.50 per person per meal. A kitchen is available for groups who would like to cook their own meals (the camp manager can offer more details). Every mission project participant will receive a “Streator Camp Volunteer T-shirt” and our gratitude for serving alongside us in this ministry.
